I often find them on Walker's bed reading books together. Be still my heart! I love that they are siting together and love even more that they are "reading"!
This is Walker's favorite book right now. It is a board book that has lots of pictures in it. MK use to like this book also. Walker's favorite page is the shapes and numbers page. He knows most of his letters, can count to 13, and is learning his shapes. He can recognize the heart and circle but all the others he doesn't know as well. I really need to work with him on colors and shapes more. But at 20 months old, he knows a good bit.
MK loves all books and "reads" every day. She is putting sounds together and actually reading 3 letter words on her own these days. Her teacher noticed that she was starting to read words before Christmas and brought it to my attention. It is amazing to me because she sounds out the letters in her head - not aloud like most of my students would. She literally looks at a sentence like: A red fox ran, takes a minute to sound it out in her head, and then reads it aloud. She has always loved books, letters, and words and I try to foster her love for reading each day.
I also often find these two playing kitchen in MK's room or jumping on her bed.......
We recently took her bedrails off and they don't jump anymore. I think they are afraid they'll fall off. I will hear giggling coming from her room and when I peek in, this is what I see.........And sometimes I even capture this moment.........
One of their favorite things to do is to climb on Daddy. They are blessed with a Daddy who comes home from a long day at work and is willing to play with them. They love playing with and on Daddy!
Daddy likes to tickle them. They climb on him likes he's a jungle gym.
Siblings are built in play mates and it makes life at home fun. Sometimes they like to play by themselves and lots of times they fuss over the same toy. But recently they have been working it out and taking turns much better. I find as Walker gets older and older, MK is more willing to play with him. She can get pretty bossy but he doesn't seem to mind. He does exactly what she tells him to because he knows that is the only way she'll play with him sometimes. In fact recently she told him that she was the medium boss and Mommy was the big boss. She also told him that he is a little boy and she is a big girl so he has to listen to her. We'll see how long the "obeying" lasts but it works for now. He absolutely adores his Sissy and loves any kind of attention from her. He learns so much from her by watching, listening, and imitating. I can honestly say that MK gets her bossiness honestly - just ask my Mother or Grandmother! Poor Walker will just have to live with it until he gets old enough to tell her that she's not his boss! I can remember my Mom telling me that I was not my brother's mother. I use to boss them around the same way MK does Walker. I would even punish them and send them to their rooms. I was definitely a little mother and MK is too.
I say it often but I am so thankful that MK and Walker have each other. It sure makes days at home more fun for them!

I feel like one of my repeat phrases is "Owen, you're not the boss of Josh." But hey, he gets it from his mama too, right? How did the two of us ever play nicely together? Bossy older sisters!
